restaurante casa tio pedroRopa vieja (Canarian chickpeas and meat stew), goat meat, squid with garlic and a good local wine, are the specialitites of this typical restaurant situated in the valley of El Portezuelo, in the municipality of Tegueste. Family atmosphere, home cooking, rural landscape and, above all, much peace are the characteristics that turn this into an obligatory stop for delighting in a good meal.

This restaurant is situated in a typical Canarian house of the early 20th Century, which belonged to Pedro González Olive, hence the name of this establishement, Tío Pedro. For years the house was used as living quarters and food shop; the neighbours purchased here the basic products for subsistence. Today, the visitors can contemplate a photograph of this character, as well as a curious collection of posters from the famous romería (religious procession)  of  San Marcos de Tegueste.

Casa Tio Pedro has a covered terrace with views of the nearby mountains and, in addition, during the summer months, it fits out another open-air terrace surrounded by a plantation of vineyards and trees and with views of the Plateau of Tejina.

Not only the main meals have their deserved fame here for their quality and variety, but also the desserts. We can highlight the "flan" (egg custard) of many different flavours, such as, chocolate, kiwi, lemon and banana.

Good food, good atmosphere and peace is the combination offered by this local restaurant of the municipality of Tegueste.
