The Loro Parque is located in Puerto de la Cruz, and has the greatest collection of parrots of the entire world, an aquarium that includes a tunnel with sharks, Planet Penguin, with more than 200 marine penguins from the Arctic and the Tropics, dolphin, parrot and sea lion performances. No wonder it is the most popular tourist attraction!

Since it opened in 1972, Loro Parque has increased its surface to 135.000m2, ten times more than it s original size. The variety of attractions in the park is spectacular and they impress both adults and children. At the entrance of the Park, the visitor will feel fascinated by the Thai Town, located in a beautiful lake filled with colourful Koi carps from Japan. The route continues towards beautiful gardens covering an area of 3.500m2; it is the refuge of the Gorillas.

Another outstanding area of this park is the “Delfinario”, where these intelligent mammals coming from the Gulf of Mexico will surprise us with their acrobatics and enchant us with their affection. The delfinario is the greatest one in Europe and has a capacity of 7 million litres of water.

The new stars in the park are 4 Orcas, which come all the way from Sea World in the United States, born in captivity. There are 2 females and 2 males. The' OrcaOcean' of Loro Parque is already amongst the largest and most sophisticated premises of cetaceans in the world. These Orcas are specie of cold-water marine mammals that can reach 5,400 kilos and have a life span of 30 years.

In December 1999, the park inaugurated the biggest “penguinarium” of the world. Imagine being at 22ºC in shorts and being transported to an authentic Antarctic ecosystem. These penguins and other marine birds of the Antarctic will live in a replica of an Antarctica island in a temperature of - 2ºC and will swim in marine waters of 10ºC.

Here we will also find the most modern aquarium of the world, with more than 20,000 fresh and salty water species, and 18.50 ms of shark tunnel, with 7 species of these animals swimming over our heads.

There are also crocodiles, flamingos, turtles, tigers… apart from offering various restaurants with different foods and a gift shop.
