The town of Guinea, the one of the first historical establishments of the island and first “eco-museum” of Spain, has become one of the most important outdoor museums in Europe and is financed by the Regis program of the European Community, Government of the Canary Islands and Local authorities. This Eco-museum recreates the uses and customs of the prehistoric and traditional life of the island from an archaeological and ethnographic investigation that guarantees the loyalty of the project.

This Eco-museum recreates the uses and customs of the prehistoric and traditional life of the island from an archaeological and ethnographic investigation that guarantees the loyalty of the project.

In the town we can see the constructions of the inhabitants of the island from the XV century with the little materials that were available, with thick and strong walls, pine boards and beams, stone and organic matter. Not only it reflects the traditional local life but also their popular crafts.

Guinea is a fundamental point of cultural and environmental information, helping to spread of the historical patrimony of the island and fomenting cultural and quality tourism, showing the particular local idiosyncrasy.
