The recent lavas of Timanfaya resemble a desert. The water is scarce, the temperature registers large oscillations and the heat is very intense. These conditions have turned this park into one of the most magical corners of Lanzarote.

timanfayaThe relief of modern formation, product of the eruptions that lasted six long years, appears before our eyes causing from the first moment a moving sensation of human belittling and natural greatness. There are more than 200 km2 of volcanoes and smoky grounds at the centre of the Island.

The park of Timanfaya or Las Montañas de fuego (Fire Mountains) can be visited right at the very same point where the origin of the eruptions took place. A moving place that can even reached on top of a camel or dromedary. The red and black of the birth of the eruptions, the great lava avenues and the brown, grey and jet black sandy grounds, prevail all along the journey. The images of the park are incredibly varied. Chaotic and irregular shapes that contrast against the landscape, mixing with smooth lava plates and smooth earth carpets.

There are no words to explain such amazing nature…
